This collection is a blend of grand and intimate landscapes in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in western Colorado. Black Canyon is a steep walled Gorge carved over the course of millennia by the Gunnison River. Black Canyon is named not because of the color of the rock, but because its steepness makes it difficult for the suns rays to penetrate into the canyon. It’s walls are often shadowed causing its color to appear black. The Painted Wall clif is the epitome of its beautiful striated walls. It brings to mind the immense power of nature.
